“I am feeling very happy. I had never thought that I would ever get married. He, even after knowing about the truth, still remained on his decision to marry me,” said 25-year-old Lalita. The 27-year-old Rahul works as a CCTV operator in Malad.
One wrong phone call, 3 months ago, changed the lives of two the people, forever. 3 months ago, Lalita had dialed Ravi by mistake. When he called her back, he fell in love with her voice and they started talking every day. Finally, he proposed to her.
“Lalita had accidentally dialed my number about three months ago. I then called her back after 15 days. We spoke and I fell in love with her voice. Our conversations continued on a daily basis and in the process, I proposed to her,” Ravi told The Hindu
Lalita told him about her attack. But, Ravi did not care, it did not make him love her any less. Lalita had been attacked by her cousin in 2012, just days before her wedding, due to a personal vengeance.
Founder of Acid Survivors Saahas Foundation, Daulat Bi Khan told The Hindu: “A tiff broke out between her younger brother Sunny and her cousin Sham Babu. Ms. Bansi stepped in, and slapped both of them, asking them to stop fighting. She continued to stay in Azamgarh as her marriage was scheduled after five months. Fifteen days prior to her scheduled marriage, Mr. Babu threw acid on her face, as revenge for slapping him.”
A member of the Acid survivors Saahas Foundation, Lalita Bansi, has undergone 17 surgeries and will undergo 12 more of them in a few months.
Her wedding was organised by the Saahas Foundation and supported by several other sponsors. While the wedding outfits for both the bride and the groom, the jewellery and the pundit were sponsored by fashion designers Abu Jaani and Sandeep Khosla, Vivek Oberoi, actor and philanthropist, gifted a flat to the newlyweds.
According to reports, Vivek had met Lalita at a function in March where he got to know about her problems and the fact that she was homeless. The actor reportedly promised her then that he will gift her a house. Staying true to his word, the ‘Saathiya’ actor not only attended Lalita’s wedding but also gifted her the key to her new house.
Recently, the actor had gifted 25 flats to the families of 25 CRPF jawans killed in Sukma attack.
This is what Vivek tweeted about her wedding.
“I wish they stay happy together. He (Rahul) loves her truly. He was telling me that their love story is filmy. It was a wrong number and then they became friends. Now they are starting a new life. Lalita is a strong girl. I met Lalita when we had an awareness programme held by Sahas foundation,” said Vivek.
